North London Nationals 2019/2020 Major Novice MD2 Season
Hello and welcome to the 2019/2020 Major Novice MD2 season. My name is Jeff Delaney and I will be the head coach of this team, co-coached by Darryl Olczak.

Both Darryl and I are excited for the chance to continue coaching within the North London Nationals program, as we were last years' Minor Novice house-league team coaches. Both of our groups saw exceptional growth in player skills and abilities, and we are eager to build on these qualities. We are committed to growing the players’ love of hockey in a fun and positive environment while focusing on skill development.

This is a competitive hockey team and it is expected that all players/parents are committed to our games, practices, tournaments, events and off ice training sessions as the priority.

Last year, Hockey Canada introduced a new program in Minor Novice hockey which included half ice games with 4v4 game play. The program will continue is this year with half ice until mid-January and then a transition into full ice and 5v5 game play for the remainder of the year.

The Major Novice MD2 tryout process will be a continuation of the MD1 tryout from last week. We ask that all players who were not successful in making the MD1 team attend the below two tryout dates:

Friday, September 20 - 5pm-6pm, Carling Arena
Saturday, September 21 - 10am-11am, Carling Arena

Please check the website calendar during the week to make sure no changes have occurred.

The team will be announced later in the day on Saturday, September 21 and posted to the MD2 team website.

All players selected to the MD2 team will be subject to a "bump up" fee above the registration costs. A monetary amount will also be charged towards the team budget in order to cover team expenses over the course of our season. The budget has yet to be completed or approved. The MD2 team will look at options for fundraising to help reduce the rising costs of competitive hockey.

The MD2 team will compete in 4 tournaments over the course of our season. This will be set up as 2 half-ice and 2 full-ice tournaments, as well as the Alliance Championships in April. We are currently working on finalizing where these tournaments will be. Updates will come as soon as we start getting registration confirmations.

We are very eager to get started with this year's MD2 team and look forward to a great season of hockey.

Good luck to everyone trying out and we will see you at the rink this Friday and Saturday.

Jeff and Darryl
