Update on Ruling 7.0.2
Hi Team,
I asked Alliance for clarification on rule 7.0.2 of the Handbook regarding Round Robin ties in the playoffs. The rule states:
" If three (3) teams or more are tied, the point record establishedin the games AMONG THE TIED TEAMS ONLY will be used asthe first tie breaking formula in deciding which team(s) shalladvance. The team(s) with the most wins would gain the highest position."
This would have seen our team advance. The Alliance has respnded with the following:
"This Bulletin was created at the start of season October and should have distributed to all the teams but was not. The wording in yellow is what we applied to break the tie."
The wording in yellow Tony Martindale is refering to is:
"Regular Season standings will be used as the first tie breaker after Round Robin play. Points from Regular Season are not carried over to playoff round. Example - Oakridge and West tie for 4th after Round Robin. West finished higher in Regular Season and would advance to Semi vs. 1st Place team. Oakridge would be eliminated".
Basically to sum it up, the rules in the Alliance handbook regarding a three or more way tie that is posted online is dated and is not being used and the Alliance is using the new rule that was made in October which according to Tony was not distributed to all teams.
Sarnia will be advancing and we wish them and all teams luck going forward.
