Bench Staff Requirements (North London Nationals Hockey)

Thank you for volunteering to be a Bench Staff member.  Please refer to this guide to ensure you meet all requirements
 
Mandatory for All Bench Staff

• Hockey Canada Registration
  • At the start of every new season, you will need to Register yourself as Bench Staff for the season.
  • New members:  Please create a new account
• Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
  • Must be approved by the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF)
  • Are valid for three years
  • If you require a new VSC, it can be obtained through London Police Services. 
  • Click here for instructions on how to get your VSC approved by OHF.
• Gender Identity Training - This only needs to be completed once.
• Respect in Sport - Activity Leader - This only needs to be completed once.

Trainer Requirements
 

• Each team must have at least one certified Trainer with their Level 1 certification.

Coaching Requirements (House League)

• Head Coach:
  • Certification requirements depend on the age group and playing level
  • U9 and Below:  Coach 1 (C1)
  • U10 and Above: Coach 2 (C2)
  • Note:  You do not need to complete C1 before C2.  If coaching U10+ you may go directly to C2
• Assistant Coach: 
  • No certification required for House League, but encouraged.

For the 2025-2026 season, new House League Head Coaches will be reimbursed for approved certification costs.  Please contact our Registrar before registering for any courses to confirm eligibility.

Coaching Requirements (MD/BB)

• Head Coach:
  
  • U9 and Below:  Coach 1 (C1)
  • U10-U11: Coach 2 (C2)
  • U12-U18: Development 1 Trained
  • Note:  You do not need to complete C1 before C2 or C2 before Development.  Ex. If coaching U10+ you may go directly to C2
• Assistant Coach: 
  • U9 and Below:  Coach 1 (C1)
  • U10-U18:  Coach 2 (C2)
