John MacDonald Memorial MD Tournament - Finalists
Congratulations to the North London Nationals MD Novice Tier II team!! These young players had their first tournament of the season in St. Catharines this weekend where they faced some strong competition but worked hard and had fun! Thanks to the efforts of players and parents, the tournament was a tremendous success both on and off the ice.
The team started the tournament against a very strong opponent, Victoria Village from the Greater Toronto Area. After a tough opening game loss, the team worked hard to win three straight games including a must win game against the York Mills Rangers, sending them to the championship game on Sunday.
We improved with each and every game and in the Championship game, we met the same Victoria Village team that we had played on Friday. The kids played their hearts out and the game was close but the Victoria Village team was too strong and we were unable to win the Championship game.
Losing is never easy but it is part of every team and every game. I am extremely proud of this team and the way they left it all on the ice this weekend. I could not have asked them for anything more.
Congratulations to all players on making it to the finals and giving Victoria Village all they could handle in the Championship Game.
I hope the players and parents all enjoyed the tournament as much as I did!
