North London Nationals Midget MD Team WINS St.Thomas tournament
Congratulations to Coach Lance Howard and the team for winning the St.Thomas AE/MD tournament this past weekend.

The North London Midget team has started the season with a flurry. Undefeated in preseason and league play year to date, the Midget team went to St Thomas and saw five different teams over the course of the tournament. Owen Sound Attack tied North in the opening game and after that they never looked back, winning their next four games. Lucas Thompson and Greg Davis were outstanding in net, having only 5 goals scored against them the whole tournament.

Scoring 24 goals for the tournament led to a couple of dominating performances. A hat tip goes to Patrick Mazurek with a four goal game in the semi-final and Maclean Howard with a hat trick in round robin play. Mark Madden frustrated opposing defense by being unable to be moved from the front of their net all tournament.

The defense played tough all tournament and added goals from the blue line to round out our scoring. Being stingy in our end and clearing out the front of the net so the goalies could see shots was a key to our success.

Meeting the Windsor Spitfires in the semifinal North was up 3 goals in the first 5 minutes and never looked back. In addition to Patrick M’s performance, the line of Michael Ludwik, Derek Kunsch and Colin Jenken frustrated the Spitfires with a dominating cycle game that Windsor could not stop.

The final was against a large, fast and hard hitting team from Allison, the TNT Tornados. Brett Ledingham and Kyle Robertson were able to showcase their speed on the big ice at Timken arena in the final. Parents commented what a great game the championship was for both teams. 1-1 after three periods of play the game went to 4 on 4 for the overtime. Gary Shen tipped in a blast from the point and secured the championship for North.

The coaches were very pleased with the quality of the hockey played by the Midget team and the championship was well deserved .The team now sports an 11-0-2 record for the season.
