North Completes the Triple Crown!
Mission Complete!
Last night, the boys played like champions and completed the triple crown. They were regular season champs, play-off round robin champs and final four play-down champions. Sarnia proved a great opponent all year long but the combination of our player's heart/talent and the home ice advantage proved too much and the Nationals will play in the Alliance MD Championships as MD West Division Champions.
Tyler Gerdevic provides a great play-by-play below:
"On march 30th the Sarnia Sting faced the North London Nationals in the championship final game. The Series started with a 3-1 win for North. The second game Sarnia had lots of energy winning at home 5-1. Then it all came down to the 3rd and final game in London. At the end of the 1st period it was 1-0 for North goal scored by Mason Goldie! At the end of the 2nd period it was 3-1 with North goals scored by Mason Goldie and Blake St. Denis! Then all that was left was the 3rd period. It was 3-1 with 2:30 left in the game. With Sarnia's goalie pulled, North was throwing all pucks on net. They all kept on missing but then with 2:00 left Tyler Gerdevic picked up the puck at the hash marks and skated to the blue line and lined it up with the net and fired it down the ice straight into the net! The Nationals were going crazy with 10 seconds left jumping around in their bench hugging and hi 5ing each other then when the buzzer went all the gloves and sticks went flying in the air. This will be a season to remember having a 56-10-2 record, qualifying for the international silver stick, participating in the alliance championship and going back to back CHAMPIONS!!!
